Check out Hershmanlandia. Lynn Hershman Leeman was just interviewed on RU Sirius Radio recently. She’s a bay area artist who does surveilance related art, among other things, and for 35 years has been creating cyber-inspired art. Take her Cyber-Roberta project which involved the creation of a virtual person (acted out by various artists over her lifetime) who lived and explored in the SF area… She is a multimedia artist who started out in the early 70’s where clearly the art world had not acknowledged or accepted computer based art. Before Nintendo re-invented the handheld game system, these exotic handhelds with the beeps, blips, and LED lights where the shit!

Computers can be infected in as little as TWELVE MINUTES these days! A staggering 8000 new viruses have been released into the wild in only SIX MONTHS of 2005. That’s a little less than TWO NEW VIRUSES PER HOUR! It’s caused a huge upswing in phishing. Sobering news, but the software giant still isn’t liable. Y’all should have installed some virus protection softwares… dumbasses!
I wonder how high these numbers must go before they start helping MAC sales…
There’s an interesting and very illuminating Quiz to determine your ecological footprint I found. I hit 1.5 earths and an acre footprint of 7.
Want to reach 1.0 earths? (1) Become vegetarian, (2) don’t drive a car (3) live in 1-story dwelling with no running water, and use solar, oh and god forbid don’t fly.
The fuel you use to drive might be obvious, but I was reading an article which said that it takes 500,000 tons of emissions to fly from London to Miami, for one trip! Also vegetarianism might be another surprising one for some folks. Truth is it takes 10 times the resources to eat meat because you have to grow 10x the plants, use 10 times the land, water, and so on to raise those cows + chickens.
Some food for thought…
The Economist had an interesting article recently which got me doing some searching. An interesting piece came up the surprising spectrum of Evangelicals…
Here’s a story for ya, Toyota decided to build a plant in Canada despite many state subsidies to build in Mississippi & Alabama. Why? Illiteracy was so bad that even using pictorials to illustrate how to use the high tech plant equipment wasn’t quite enough.
According to this link, you know the internet never lies, Francis Crick was trippin on Acid when he discovered the double-helix structure, the secret of life…
RU Sirius, not the satellite people but the M2K guy, also author of Counter Culture Through the Ages, now has a podcast show. I just finished listening to all four shows. They’re awesome, one includes an interview with Erick Davis, 33 1/3 author of the Led Zepellin Occult connection, and also they feature Jack Sarfatti, alien abductee weirdo + mathematician. Oh and what show would be complete without Fred Burks, Bush translator, and conspiratoriologist of 9/11…
Stumbling through wikipedia, I came upon this page, the proto-writing system of Siglas Poveiras used by the Vikings! Now I know what those darn WIFI freaks were up to with warchalking.
