AWOL for Meat Packers

Posted by admin on Aug 22 2004 | Uncategorized

There is a new craze in town, and for the uninitiated, it looks like trendy swanksters are smoking crack cocaine. Dig a little further though, and it’s Alcohol WithOut Liquid. Huh? Get high without the hangover, and it’s legal because it uses the age-old non-drug drug, alcohol as it’s main ingredient.

Of course guess who’s already seeking a ban.

data-basic nation

Posted by admin on Aug 20 2004 | Uncategorized

We’ve all heard about the no fly list by now. Have you heard about the senator that got caught in it’s web? This is surely a sign of things to come. Huge databases, little quality control, err on the side of safety. Add that all up and you have your usual cluster-f*ck.

out-of-towners delight

Posted by admin on Aug 11 2004 | Uncategorized

If you have friends coming in from out of town, and they don’t want to stay in $100+ per night hotel palaces, there are a couple of good options. Check out Amsterdam Residence which is on the Upper West Side, and also the Larchmon Hotel in the village near University.

for ET you can search me

Posted by admin on Aug 11 2004 | Uncategorized

All the tripster poets, from Terrance McKenna to Tim Leary, and Robert Anton Wilson, have mentioned from time to time unorthodox theories about life outside of our world.

Now we’re hearing them in the popular news. Paul Davies from the Australian Centre for Astrobiology, Macquarie University asks us to consider the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) right inside our DNA.

new tech for an old game

Posted by admin on Aug 10 2004 | Uncategorized

As you all know, the RNC is coming at the end of the month.
Protestors are taking a different tack, and planning to use various hightech solutions to catch up with modern police.

I know one thing, I’m gettin’ the heck out of dodge. Bman here I come.

bandied about, then peed out

Posted by admin on Aug 09 2004 | Uncategorized

I love railing on about the missing drug war on legal drugs. Take prozac for example, that failed attempt to solve real societal problems, or at least the problem of a preponderance of the depressed, but drugging them. Albeit by state-sanctioned doctors!

Apparently there are so many prozac poppers, that traces of the drug are turning up in the strangest places.

drugs as consensual crime

Posted by admin on Aug 06 2004 | Uncategorized

A consensual crime is one where all parties consent to participation. In other words a crime without a victim. As absurd as it sounds, there are plenty of such laws. Some excellent excerpts from Peter McWilliams book Ain’t Nobody’s Business If I Do is a great read for anyone interested in this subject.

linux - still more revolutions

Posted by admin on Aug 03 2004 | Uncategorized

Every other day there’s a revolution caused by new technology and the internet. We usually digest these as major lawsuits against people using the technology by big companies who didn’t see it coming. Linux is once again in a position to cause some itsy bitsy revolutions.

saragossa’s mystical author

Posted by admin on Aug 03 2004 | Uncategorized

I recentely rented the strange and bizarre Saragossa Manuscript. The movie was fascinating though rather confusing, trippy and disjointed recounting of this guy who is at times in a nightmare, and later seemingly inebriated on strange hallucinagins. I did a little research, and dug up the creator, the infamous Count Potocki. Illuminati, Rosicrucians, what more could you ask for?

DMCA sends some love

Posted by admin on Aug 02 2004 | Uncategorized

In an age where we increasingly turn to search engines such as google for information, it’s chilling when you see pages and pieces of the internet censored. At least we are still notified to that affect. Hacker site 2600 keeps archives of hacked sites. These are dubbed, I think fairly, ‘parodies’.

sythetic human skin bags

Posted by admin on Aug 01 2004 | Uncategorized

I’m really not sure if these folks are selling a lot of these bags. Why copy what the Nazi’s did, this time using synthetic materials? Perhaps it’s a horror movie thing. Their site says G o r e + C h i c = V e r y C h i c. I guess I’m out of the loop again…
