history viewed through biological imperatives

Posted by admin on Jan 14 2004 | Uncategorized

That’s how I would distill what Howard Bloom does in a nutshell. The older title Lucifer Principle, I’ve just finished, and it truely works your mind. For he presents new interpretations, sometimes difficult, of human historical events, allowing us to fathom some explanation to the madness. Also I recommend Global Brain which I talked about before.

media trend creation

Whether accidentally or on purpose, the media certainly does contribute to and sometimes direct trends. So this Disinfo piece on Precursor Trends seems particularly prescient. :-)

Chinese Cultural Revolution - photo book

Posted by admin on Jan 14 2004 | Uncategorized

Just as any book about Hitler’s Germany is on the one hand important, and on the other difficult, so too is one about the Chinese Cultural Revolution. Recently interviewed in Giant Robot Li Zhensheng has published some of the photos he secretly took during those years into a volume Red Color News Soldier.

kozyndan - art for our lives

Posted by admin on Jan 14 2004 | Uncategorized

Kozyndan graced the cover of Giant Robot some months back. That was my first exposure to their great work. They also did a piece for the SARS Art Project. Think soft lovely anime-art, with subtle, almost mythological and subversive imagery woven into every pore…

Kozyndan is short for Kozy and Dan. Thanks Felix.

Was the Voynich Manuscript a hoax?

Posted by admin on Jan 14 2004 | Uncategorized

If it was, it will bring new meaning to the term “elaborate”. Or it may be that this guy gets really frustrated when he can’t figure out a code. A more in depth piece from disinfo

immigrant felons get off scott-free!

Posted by admin on Jan 13 2004 | Uncategorized

Probably sounds like I’m turning conservative, but I do think this is a notable loophole in the law that local police cannot enforce immigration law.

better buy a big coffee can

Posted by admin on Jan 07 2004 | Uncategorized

Wow, these guys mean business. The new Intelligence Authorization Act allows the feds to get records from financial institutions (remember about libraries) without getting an OK from the judge, and preventing the financial institution from telling you about it.

one way free email addresses

Posted by admin on Jan 06 2004 | Uncategorized

This Dodge It site is WAY WAY cool. Here’s how it works. Any email you makeup will work. No registration. Go to amazon, buy stuff, use a different email each time. Then go to dodgeit.com to check for messages. It’s receive only but that’s the beauty of it.

Now to think of a way to keep track of all those new email addresses…

ladies - panties off for peace

Posted by admin on Jan 06 2004 | Uncategorized

A funny site where ladies sell you their panties for peace. Their mission statement says they believe in healthcare, civil rights, and world peace, but I can’t figure out if they donate the money or not. And I don’t see anywhere that you specify size when ordering!

In northern Spain, from Valencia to Santiago de Compostela, hundreds witnessed fireballs in the sky. Perhaps they’re working with the people in Ohio.
