Umberto Eco on the future of books

Though I don’t necessarily agree with his perspective exactly, his lectures, and writing are always insightful and full of interesting perspective. Here he speaks of Vegetal and mineral memory: The future of books. Though I don’t think stone writing and silicon have much in common, and that paper + stone probably have more in common in the sense of their longevity, the point that we should be concerned about the future of libraries, remains an relevant one.
