more scientific prattle - men will become extinct?

Posted by admin on Sep 28 2003 | Uncategorized

Give the humans a little knowledge, and they make outrageous predictions. Take Bryan Sykes who thinks we may eventually have no males left. I for one think nature is smarter than that. She’s managed to get us here, inspite of asteroids, volcanoes, plagues and other wonderful acts of god throughout time.

I haven’t really started digging into this site, but it looked really juicy, so I thought I’d just post it. Ishkur’s Guide to Electronic music. 140 genres, 635 samples, 312 files.

number portability or cell hell?

Posted by admin on Sep 24 2003 | Uncategorized

Here’s a conspiracy from hell. I, and many other unhappy cellphone owners, have been anxiously awaiting November 24 when supposedly number portability will kick in. Apparently some providers may just ignore the law and Congress may help. Big Business, afterall…

I’ve been out of the loop apparently. Bloody “masses” of animal or human body parts have been found all over the building. Is this a joke?

does this mean the end of Zagat?

Posted by admin on Sep 22 2003 | Uncategorized

Restaurant lovers love Zagat for it’s reviews. But, Gawker proclaims this new site Add Your Own could spell doom for Zagat. I might agree.

total lifetime surveillance

Posted by admin on Sep 22 2003 | Uncategorized

It’s been a while since I read 1984, but I seem to remember moments where it was difficult to find privacy, where they had to take special precautions to have an unsurveilled moment. Many people believe that is happening as we speak.

Posted by admin on Sep 22 2003 | Uncategorized

I’ve featured Gizmodo and other sites before, but now I’ve run into this site Mobile Burn. If you’re in the market for a new phone, or will be as I am, as of November 24th, check mobile burn regularly.

lovely lounging chinese ladies

Posted by admin on Sep 22 2003 | Uncategorized

So I’m always featuring Japanese art because I find more of that, but here’s an interesting link to the art of Zhu Xain Jair. This is marginally work-safe, it’s pretty tame stuff, very artistic. Maybe someone would be offended, I don’t know. Really beautiful pieces though, and I encourage everyone to take a look.

the 9-11 deception dollar

Posted by admin on Sep 19 2003 | Uncategorized

I just saw one of these in NYC, and thought it was great. The deception dollar features a photoshoped dollar bill (front and back) encouraging people to ask questions about 9-11. It is a really cool idea. It’s sort of disinformation back at ya, in the form of a slightly larger than real size dollar bill. The best is the total information awareness bit which is only a slight change from the normal masonic pyramid on the back of the $1 greenback.

You’ve probably all heard about the Jetblue fiasco. They’ve now quietly appologized and promised not to do it again.

smoke the iboga boga man

Posted by admin on Sep 19 2003 | Uncategorized

I wrote about this literally damned drug before. Here’s some more stories from Daniel Pinchbeck visting with the Bwiti in West Africa. I guess it’s like a key to the mind. Brings new meaning to our cultures prohibition of these medicines of old. Time to lock them up, and throw away the key. Lycaeum resource page.

the Jihad is killing Christianity?

Posted by admin on Sep 19 2003 | Uncategorized

I’m not sure if I can bite this off and chew on it… Apparently Christianity is in decline… Ahem, maybe in Europe. Then again one of the authors they advertise on this site writes about how great McCarthy was.

it’s not Ecstacy, now it’s drinking

Posted by admin on Sep 19 2003 | Uncategorized

There’s always a demon, if it’s not that damn Ecstacy which no one can agree if is good or bad, it’s the damn drink. Now that tobacco is on the way out, prohibition on alcohol is probably soon to follow…

a record label, sans bad karma

Posted by admin on Sep 19 2003 | Uncategorized

Who says there’s nothing good happening in the world. Here’s an example, this company MagnaTune seems to be doing everything right. Buy what you like after listening to streaming samples, splitting profits 50/50 with artists, MP3 + WAV downloads of music you buy. It really sounds too good to be true!

use one deadly sin to get at another

Posted by admin on Sep 18 2003 | Uncategorized

This to me is pretty underhanded legal leveraging/monkey wrenching which is done in a moment of desperation. Can stop those p2p filesharers with threats, then we’ll try hacking them. If that doesn’t work, drag out the porn connection. I mean look at all the hoopla over Trudeau mentioning… gasp… m..m..master..bbb… I can’t say it, someone might hear!

madness swirling around in the news

Posted by admin on Sep 18 2003 | Uncategorized

Is this just a matter of seeing what you want to see? We’ve got protestors = terrorists and growing prison populations, quickly eroding privacy even collecting DNA fingerprints for all good citizens, and widespread email + telephone surveillance. Military propaganda is reasonable, but treating mental health with drugs is falling out of fashion. At least now they’re being consistent with what RAW calls the war on (some) drugs. Plenty of casualties there, including Tommy Chong, and the integrity of scientific research.

cellphone senility

Posted by admin on Sep 18 2003 | Uncategorized

There is one thing I often notice about science, and that is it’s ability at criticism which somehow always comes out as negative, a somehow defeated view of the universe. So it’s with no surprise that we find that cellphones may not cause cancer, but on the other hand we might be conducting the biggest “human biological experiment ever”, that may make us senile in the prime of our lives.

America’s quiet supervolcano

Posted by admin on Sep 18 2003 | Uncategorized

For more fear mongering, it seems a major geothermal pressure is building under Yellowstone National Park and could explode at any time.

“Only a handful exist in the world but when one erupts the explosion will be heard around the globe. The sky will darken, black acid rain will fall, and the Earth will be plunged into the equivalent of a nuclear winter. It could push humanity to the brink of extinction.”
